tate modern and us

I recently realised my little one is building a lovely history with the tate modern.. my daughter was with us in spirit at the gilbert and george exhibition..

she loved every minute of an early trip to the Rothko show

which child doesn't love skipping around the turbine hall

then she got a little bit older..

so she could do more..

that pleased her greatly (proud face)

so nowadays she runs there, excitedly

still loves the turbine - dances there..

she talks about the upbringing of Yayoi Kusama

..she (pleasingly!) wonders why, in those days, a woman couldn't be an artist in Japan and had to move to New York to do it..

long may her curiosity, her great relationship and happy times at the tate continue..

dancing on the beach

 ...dancing on the beach

and skipping in the playground
good times

I made these clothes for my daughter after not touching a sewing machine for years and years. I didn't use patterns - if I decide to make more I'll make some patterns.. but for now I'll just wing it. These clothes are so loose, cool and comfy. My daughter loves them and has become way too regular with her requests.. She sweetly asked me to make her some harem pants next week. She's demanding - but has good taste for a 5 year old! And it's stretching me. I love it that she's suddenly shown an interest in clothes where she's never had any before and am happy to go with it. I wonder where it will end...

ding dong bell

My daugthter loves her new dress. It's made in a thin striped seersucker and stands out like a bell. She chose to wear it with her white harem pants from next and crocs. It's a good twirling outfit, apparently.

for the love of cardboard

Cardboard, beautiful cardboard. Here in our home we love it. From toilet roll middles to cardboard forests from old boxes, to simple cafe signs and fancy dress outfits, you just can't beat it. And our daughter quite likes it too..

I suspect everyone has seen this magical video, Caine's Arcade. We watched it with wonder and there wasn't a dry eye in the house. What a very special young boy.

We could never touch the incredible creation that Caine created, but don't half salute the glory of cardboard.

This drive-in cinema is pure joy isn't it.
I found it on pinterest, so please let me know if you have any idea where it came from so I can credit whoever had the fantastic idea and find out more about it.

Tricot Field is a store which has the concept to stock three Japanese brands in order to bring out the inner essence of each child.

There are three stores, Tokyo, New York and Beverley Hills.

I love the trench skirt, above

found via the this is loveforever blog, which I never tire of visiting
